Evening everyone,
Here's the first update from Kanga Cup 2011 from the perspective of the referees attending as a part of the Youth Referee Academy. Its just before 11pm, so quickly...
Everyone has arrived (I think) to the BCL over the day and have moved into rooms. 5:30pm was the orientation with David Kurthi that included site rules, overview of policy for this year and a focus for the group. It was well recieved by all present and provides hope for those "older hands" that the mischief of last year will not be repeated in 2011.
Dinner was standard camp fare - roast pork and apple pie. Aside from some special dietary needs having to be chased up, its was good and enough for the officials.
After dinner the group headed out to the Belcolmn ten pin bowling, where many splits were found and the group showed that its lucky that they aren't here for bowling. High score was 168 in Lane 3 -Chris I believe from unreliable sources nearby.
Early start for the coaches tommorrow with the group having a leisurely start to the day around 9:30am for the seminar / briefing and then the beep test is their next challenge.
Internet access here at BCL is limited and most participants will struggle to get access during the week, so I'll try and post pictures and updates (from the fields as well) daily, but likely to be late night.
